Watching tiny figs grow changed my perspective of a Bible story I’d pondered for a long time, and has me thinking about our fruitfulness as Christians.

Just like in the story of the fig tree, Jesus doesn’t just watch us from a distance - He comes close. What will He find in our lives when He draws near? Fruit of the Spirit? Or just the appearance of Godliness with no genuine faith? May He find us faithful and fruitful! 💛

“So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” James 2:17

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23�

Fresh spring flowers, a hot mug of chai, and a quiet nap-time hour to paint. The perfect afternoon!

“For men have no taste for [God’s power] till they are convinced of their need of it and they immediately forget its value unless they are conditionally reminded by awareness of their own weakness.” ~ John Calvin

When I read that quote by Calvin, the story of Jesus calming the storm immediately came to mind. The disciples were surely very aware of their weakness in those moments before God’s power over nature was displayed. One of the ways we can learn to rely on God’s Omnipotence - His mighty power - in our lives, is to remember the many miracles that God has done. In Psalm 105 it says “Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually. Remember His wonders which He has done.” Every miracle we read about in the Bible reminds us of God’s Omnipotence and gives us encouragement that His strength is more than enough for all of our needs. ♥️

The Immutability of God ✨
God is unable to be changed or influenced by any external force and does not change in his being or character.
Whatever the attributes of God were before the universe was called into existence, they are the same now and will remain so forever. 💛

“Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment.
You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, but you are the same, and your years have no end.”
Psalm 102:25–27

Beauty is not just decoration;
it is revelation.
It is Heaven leaning low enough
to create a longing in the heart for Home.

Every experience of beauty, when rightly received, becomes an opportunity to worship and a reminder of God’s attribute of Immanence. (God is present in all of creation, while remaining distinct from it.)
Those glimpses draw us beyond ourselves, stirring up both gratitude and a longing for the One who made all things good.

I think oftentimes these glimmers of Heaven catch us by surprise, in the still small moments.

It might look like the “I’m praying for you” text from a friend that comes at just the right moment. The sunrise that makes you and your children gasp in awe. The vivid double rainbow after a storm. The sweet voices of your children singing hymns in the garden. The sun beams in the yard illuminating the autumn leaves. The petals of the cherry blossoms floating to the ground like snow. Any of these can be a call to worship and a reminder that my God is near and creation is full of His glory.

If our aching, broken, weary world holds all this beauty, think of all the beauty Heaven will hold. 💛

(I wrote this last autumn, but it’s been on my mind again this week as spring beauty begins to unfold here 🌷I enjoy finding beauty in each season - but I am especially grateful for the flood of new beauty that spring brings).

Beauty is not just decoration;
